The Wingman is an alternative/indie rock band based in Vicenza, Italy, fronted by vocalist Umberto De Marchi, guitarist Alessandro De Marchi, guitar and keys player Niccolò Dal Barco, bass player Andrea Buson and drummer Francesco De Marchi. The Wingman writes and plays music that is influenced by Radiohead, Wilco, U2 and even Oasis and Coldplay, but also updates some of the classics like The Beatles.
The band was founded by twins Alessandro and Umberto De Marchi and bass player Andrea Buson while they were all students at the same high school.
In 2015 the band started rehearsing covers and decided to name itself “The Wingman” after a t-shirt the singer used to wear while rehearsing.
In 2016 the band was joined by drummer Francesco De Marchi and the multi instrumentalist Niccolò Dal Barco and started to hit the road. A few months later they got to the finals of the “Vicenza Rock Contest” playing their own original songs.
The band played in several pubs all around Vicenza and managed to win the Rock Contest in Marcon, Venezia, and the Battle of the Bands in Barbarano, Vicenza.
During the summertime of 2017 the band took one week off on the mountains of Trentino Alto Adige to write new songs for its First EP “Sleeping Eyes”.
