Pjos is a dreampop project taking shape in Gdańsk, Poland. Inspired by acts like Slowdive, Beach House, and Sigur Rós, Pjos brings a melancholic and cinematic charm to craft his sound.
Pjos is a Poland-based independent dreampop artist born in Brazil, whose music resonates with a melancholic and cinematic essence. He was immersed in music from a young age, influenced by his father, who was a professional singer. This early exposure to live performances and notable Brazilian musicians shaped his deep connection to music.
Pjos’ music is characterised by its dreamlike quality, created by blending a wide palette of colours, textures, and movement into rich, cinematic sounds. This introspective and evocative style has become his hallmark. Having started his music journey in 2023 with the release of the cover song “Shoe In”, Pjos manages every aspect of his work independently, from writing and recording to production and promotion. His hands-on approach ensures an intimate and authentic connection to his art.
Pjos invites listeners to explore his rich, emotional soundscapes promising a journey through dreamy landscapes that captivate and inspire.
“Atlas” is Pjos’ second single, and the first he wrote himself. Its nostalgic melodies, swirling guitars, and washed-out drums — reminiscent of bands like Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, and Mogwai — transport the listener to a world that feels both familiar and otherworldly. The lyrics explore themes of childhood trauma and escapism: It describes how the protagonist used atlas books as an escape from a violent home environment.
This theme is mirrored in Greek mythology’s Atlas, who carries the weight of his burdens throughout his life. Lines like “How many tears and stars must fall to heal my heart?” evoke the emotional depth of the song. The astronaut dialogs over ethereal strings in the song’s outro symbolise the protagonist’s journey towards resolution and hope.
