Norwegian post-punk collective Heave Blood & Die are gearing up to drop their fourth album “Burnout Codes” on January 26th via Fysisk Format.
Dedicated to bassist Eivind Imingen, who decided to end his life just following the recordings of the album, “Burnout Codes” is shrouded in sadness and tragedy, and shows the Norwegian collective offering their most textured and innovative album to date.
Over the course of three LPs, they’ve built a signature sound by combining elements of post-punk, post-rock, shoegaze and indie and this new album is no different. It kicks off with the brilliant titled “Dog Days”, which features their trademark post-punk sound with shouty vocals and some electronic/noise manipulation. Some nice and minimal synth melodies are also present on the following two tracks “Men Like You” and “Hits”, giving the band’s sound an ethereal almost cinematic feel.
Since their inception in Tromsø in 2017, Heave Blood & Die has been hailed by national radio as one of the most exciting new bands in Norway, played big festivals like Øya, Roskilde, Reeperbahn and SXSW and toured with Kvelertak. Their third album, “Post People”, was even nominated for the Norwegian Grammy, Spellemann.
