Unstoppable duo David Baron & Fiona Glenn are back with their next single ‘Don’t Give Up’,
due for release on Friday 26th February 2021
David Baron & Fiona Glenn have teamed up once again and are due to release their single ‘Don’t Give Up’ on Friday 26th February via Here & Now Recordings. Following their last track ‘Whisperers’, this brand new offering yet again displays Glenn’s breathtaking voice and Baron’s stunning performance on the piano, along with a wonderful 40-piece orchestra throughout.
‘Don’t Give Up’ is a piano ballad with a throwback rhythm section which was inspired by soul records of the late 1970s. A live forty-piece string section creates a blossom around Fiona’s rich voice, creating a retro-modern production using both modern high fidelity and antique recording gear.
Baron wrote the lyrics for his beloved wife, following a health issue that he faced last year – and this song is a testament to her for standing by him throughout whilst he was feeling incredibly isolated. Intending the song to help others who may be feeling hopeless, ‘Don’t Give Up’ is an especially poignant song for everyone whilst we are all experiencing confusion and hopelessness in some way during the Covid-19 pandemic.
David Baron is a composer, arranger, engineer and producer based in Woodstock, USA. He’s worked with some of the world’s most famous artists, including Lenny Kravitz for the last 20 years (arranged strings and programmed synths on his last 6 albums), The Lumineers, Shania Twain, Vance Joy, Meghan Trainor, Shawn Mendes and Phoebe Bridgers just to mention a few. David Baron’s sound is heavily influenced by Woodstock, as well as analogue & modular synths which he collects and the Classical Music he’s scored in great abundance.
David Baron arranged and conducted strings for Shawn Mendes on the track ‘Bad Reputation’ from the #1 album in 65 countries, ‘Illuminate’ (Deluxe), has performed on The Lumineers #1 Billboard album ‘Cleopatra’, and was responsible for playing piano, organ and baritone saxophone on one of the biggest selling singles of all time – ‘All About That Bass’ by Meghan Trainor – and that is just the tip of the iceberg of David’s musical accomplishments.
Baron’s background is composing – successfully scoring TV shows and advertisements for many years. As well as ‘The Ballad Of Cleopatra’ (music video compilation) for The Lumineers, he wrote the film scores for ‘Tatterdemalion (Lost Child)’ – and is also the lead composer and soundtrack producer for Gregory Colbert’s (Ashes and Snow) new feature film.
David is son of Aaron Baron, a pioneer in remote recording who recorded classic live albums from The Allman Brothers Band including ‘Eat A Peach’ and much of the Fillmore live recordings for numerous different artists including BB King, Blue Oyster Cult and Barbara Streisand to name a few.
“I met Fiona after seeing her perform as a nine year old. She was singing with my friend Elizabeth Mitchell at the Hoot Festival. My wife had seen her sing before and said I had to hear her. She had a magical sound. I spoke to her and her mom afterwards and ended up hiring young Fiona to sing on a soundtrack. That was the start.” – David Baron
Fiona Glenn was born and raised in the beautiful Mid-Hudson Valley in New York State. She is just 16 years old, and has been singing ever since she could talk – a natural born talent. Day to day, Fiona can often be found noodling around on her guitar, and she also very much enjoys watching movies with her dogs – who doesn’t?!
Fiona has already had the honor of singing with an array of amazing artists including: Pete Seeger, Natalie Merchant, Elizabeth Mitchell, Simi Stone, Amy Helm, Amy Fradon, Betty & the Baby Boomers, Roger the Jester and the Vanaver Caravan.
Several songs on David Baron’s ‘Whisperers’ album feature Fiona’s beautiful vocals, including singing the lead vocal on the highly streamed title track which has now amassed over 290,000 streams on Spotify alone.
