Jacaranda Records’ artists have come together to support the Liverpool Digital Musical Festival in aid of the city’s NHS hospitals. Spilt, Aimee Steven and Shards are set to make appearances – all debuting new material, over three days of online performances celebrating Liverpool’s vibrant music scene.
A city-wide response to the impact of Covid-19 on its people and culture, the digital-only free festival has been launched to unite a diverse range of artists in support of those affected by the global pandemic.
Launched to offer a platform for artists with a Liverpool connection to unite, access new audiences, and raise vital funds for both Liverpool NHS hospitals and grassroots music venues, the LDM Festival will feature some 100 acts from a diverse range of genres.
Jacaranda Records’ Capomaestro Ray Mia said: “My mother worked as a translator for the NHS across Liverpool for 20years, The Royal, Alder Hey, Toxteth Women’s, Broadgreen – including all the many health centres and GP clinics, you name it she worked it – plus my sister is currently a front line nurse. This one was and is a total no brainer. We’re honour bound to pitch in wherever we can offer meaningful support to our frontline services, and I’m proud that our artists have stepped forward to offer what help they can to the community we are all part of.
“While The Jacaranda has been a lodestone of the Liverpool music scene for over 60 years and will continue to be so, around the city and beyond there is a network of small independent venues whose future has been placed under threat by the very necessary lockdown, and we are glad to stand shoulder to shoulder with them in their time of crisis. Without them there is no platform to nurture emerging young talent and there is no music.”
