After departing electronic pioneers ATTRITION and appearing on the
“SMILING AT THE HYPOGONDER CLUB”LP (1985), ALEX NOVAK (ISAWS / RELIGIOUS OVERDOSE / TEMPEST) headed back to his native Northampton via a short stint in Norwich based outfit DANCE NAKED.
Here he linked up with JOHN NOVAK (ISAWS / WHERES LISSE?) and TONY BOOKER to form VENUS FLY TRAP.
They made their live debut in July 1986.
These tracks were planned to be released via oxford based label PLASTIC HEAD in 1987 but it never materialised: the original artwork has been used for this release.
The tracks were later re-recorded and would appear on two singles
and on the album “MARS”, the original version of MORPHINE did appear on MUSIC FROM THE DEAD ZONE-compilation LP ( DEAD MANS CURVE), put together by DAVE HENDERSON of SOUNDS / UNDERGROUND magazine fame.
The “MARS” album will re-issued by GLASS MODERN shortly…

Post-Punk, Post-Goth, Post-Bauhaus, and personal friends of the latter too by the way. Northampton mainman, and man in black, Alex Novak (Isaws/Religious Overdose/Tempest/Attrition) is here joined by his Brother John Novak (Isaws/Where’s Lisse?), and Tony Booker.
