Hi Guys! Can you introduce yourselves to our readers?
Hey, I am Thomas, vocalist of Blood of Serpents.
Let’s talk about your album “Sulphur Sovereign”, first I would like to know about the artwork, how you get the idea and who painted it?
The idea was inspired by Gustave Dorés paintings of Lucifer as he was cast down to hell in the book Paradise Lost. The artist, Khaos Diktator Design, captured the essence of an unbroken and challenging Lucifer perfectly.
What is the basic concept of the tracks in general? What do you try to express through your lyrics?
Overall I don’t like to discuss the specific content in detail. The lyrics speak for themselves and the people who read them will or will not understand. But in general they tend to focus on the curse of organized religions and the make-belief gods we create for ourselves.
The album is scheduled for release (via Non Serviam Records) on September 25, 2018. The production is very excellent! Are you happy with how it sounds?
Yes.
Speaking of changes, “Sulphur Sovereign” see the entrance of Christopher Andersson (new drummer) and Thomas Clifford (new vocalist) in the line-up. The effect is truly devastating. Do you agree?
I think both me and Christoffer brought something very different to the table, as compared to our predecessors. The previous line-ups were great, but the current sound of the album would have been different without me and Christoffer for sure. Not necessarily worse or better, but different.
“In Darkness, Brotherhood” is the second excerpt from the album. Can You Tell what some of the song is about? Can You describe us what extreme or black metal music means for Blood of Serpents?
In Darkness, Brotherhood decries all organized religion and calls for an anti-theistic world where men rule without make-belief gods. It is a call to arms for our brethren who want to live free from the religious yoke, whatever that religion might be.
How you will promote your record? When can we see you playing live? Maybe in Italy soon?
Our label Non Serviam Records handles promotions. We are playing only a few shows this year for various reasons. Italy is not on the list right now, but maybe one day.
Do You Have a “motto” for yourself? A phrase or a word that gives you strength?
No, not really.
I would like to thank you, that you ‘ve agreed to do this interview.
