Wicked City are an Australian three-piece heavy punk rock band that formed in Melbourne in 2005 and have been playing live, touring and recording ever since. The band began with guitarist Nik and drummer Paddy jamming as a two piece in a Northcote bungalow, mostly just entertaining the elderly Macedonian neighbours with loud Sabbath and Kyuss infused riff rock.
Enter bass player Patto two years later with a Sunn300T amp plus an affinity for the punk downstroke, and the band quickly began mining a harsh seam of furious rock n’ roll all their own – with vocals delivered from behind the kit.
The years that followed led to three full length LPs, multiple tours around Australia and Europe, and support slots with some of Australia and the world’s best underground bands. Known across the land for a blistering live show and often referred to in alt music press as Melbourne’s best kept and noisiest secret, the band took a brief break from live shows in late 2017 to concentrate on the birth of children along with the birth of their fourth full-length album, ‘Bucket List’.
Recorded and mixed by Mike Deslandes (High Tension/YLVA), the self-released ‘Bucket List’ is a raucous and adrenaline fuelled trip through the band’s collective consciousness, its eight songs pegging out a decade spent exploring a heavy sonic universe comprised of bass drums and guitar.
‘Bucket List’ will be available from 21 June 2018 on extremely limited vinyl (100 copies only), CD and digital formats, all available through the Wicked City bandcamp page. The album will be launched at the Old Bar in Melbourne, with support from the Dacios and Zeahorse, with a national tour to follow.
